Welcome to PGRPG!

I’m honored to have the opportunity to serve this year as the Parents Group Board President. Both of my children are gymnasts at Premier, and for the past year I’ve worked at the front desk getting to know many of you. The Parents Group operates to support the development of amateur athletes for state, regional, and national gymnastics competitions subject to the USA Gymnastics and the NCAA regulations. We assist parents in endeavors to raise funds to off-set the costs that come with competing and being part of a competitive gymnastics team. For 2017, the Executive Board has made it a goal to encourage parents to get involved in this dynamic organization. We’ve expanded roles and opportunities to help all teams succeed. We’re also working on ways to improve communication to keep you up-to-date on all the events and activities happening with the Parents Group.

Speaking of which, please mark your calendar for ONE of the following dates. We’re holding Parent Informational Meetings to get you all the information you need to get started as a member of the parents group, and to learn about all the new changes and opportunities for our members.
Tuesday, June 6, 7-8:30pm
Wednesday, June 7, 6-7:30pm
Wednesday, June 14, 8:30-10am
Thursday, June 15, 7-8:30pm

One of the big changes for 2017 is our board organizational structure. We’re adding a 5th position to the Executive Board–a Chairperson. This person will work with Julee Graham, our current VP and fundraiser extraordinaire, to oversee all fundraising efforts. However, they won’t be working alone. We’re adding 2 Fundraising Coordinators–one for the JO teams, and one for Xcel/Boys teams. We also need 4 Finance Coordinators that will work closely with our Treasurer, Selina Cook, to ensure that we’re on track to meet our financial goals and obligations. Level Reps are still an integral part of this team! Please be sure to come to a Parent Information Meeting to get more details. Did I mention that all of these are point-earning positions? If you already know you want to volunteer, or if you’re interested in running for Chair–don’t wait, e-mail me at premiergym@msn.com.

In the meantime, I want to get the new Membership Form to you. Yes, fees have gone up. Please, hear me out. Our organization continues to grow exponentially and costs continually go up, but unfortunately volunteering has not. So, we’ve created a new membership system to give you options. For those ready, willing, and able to volunteer a minimum of 2 meet shifts per year (we’re talking about 5 hours per year–easy stuff), the Membership Fee is $75. If you can’t, or just don’t want to volunteer–we understand, however, your Membership Fee is $90. For each additional gymnast in your family, the fee is only $25.

The Parent Handbook is being finalized, and will be available in the coming weeks.

Lastly, our next Board Meeting is July 6, 7pm, at Premier. We invite you to come, share your ideas, get involved, and help make this the best Parents Group in Colorado.
